Concrete contractor in Noe Valley
Noe Valley is ringed by hills, and 22nd Street between Church and Vicksburg ties Filbert for the steepest block in San Francisco at 31.5 percent. The Victorians and Edwardians on its flatter blocks came through 1906 untouched by the fire. Many have since grown downward, with garages and family rooms dug out beneath them.

SCOPE OF WORK · NOE VALLEY
Concrete work in Noe Valley
Most Noe Valley projects fall into one of three categories. Each links to the full service page.
Dig-downs & lowered floors
Lowering a basement or garage slab is one of the most common Noe Valley remodels. We excavate, underpin where the engineer specifies, and pour the new slab with drainage under it.
Garage Slab Lowering service → HILLSIDE LOTSRetaining walls
Toward Diamond Heights and the ridge above the Castro, backyards are terraced into the slope. Walls with a house or yard above need engineering, a permit, and drainage behind them.
Retaining Walls service → 31.5% BLOCKSSteep driveways
On Noe’s steepest streets, a garage driveway has to clear the break-over at the top and the bottom. We design the transitions before we pour, and send water to the gutter.

Old houses, steep edges
The flat middle of Noe Valley around 24th Street is surrounded by some of the city’s steepest residential blocks. Both shape the concrete.
⌂ Victorians the fire missed
Most of Noe Valley was built between the 1880s and the 1920s, and the 1906 fire didn’t reach it. Many houses kept their original brick or early concrete foundations.
Before anyone digs down, the existing foundation gets a hard look. Often the dig-down and the foundation replacement are one project.
△ Grades that stop trucks
On blocks near 30 percent, a concrete truck can’t stage at the house. We pump from where the truck can park safely and pour from the low end of the form up.
Street-space permits for the pump and any closure are part of the job.
◎ Water from uphill
Every hillside lot catches water from the lots above it. Lowered basements and walls at the foot of a slope see it first.
Sub-slab drainage, wall drains, and a sump where needed go into the design, not a change order.
