Concrete contractor in the Inner Sunset
The Inner Sunset sits between Golden Gate Park and Mount Sutro, with UCSF on the hill and Irving and 9th at its center. North of Judah it’s flat blocks on old dune sand; south of it the streets tilt up toward Sutro Forest. Most houses have a garage at street level, and that’s where most of the concrete work is.

SCOPE OF WORK · INNER SUNSET
Concrete work in the Inner Sunset
Most Inner Sunset projects fall into one of three categories. Each links to the full service page.
Garage dig-downs
Lowering a garage slab adds height for an in-law unit or a usable room. In sand, the excavation is shored and dug in sections so neighboring footings stay supported.
Garage Slab Lowering service → STREET-LEVEL GARAGESDriveways & aprons
Aprons crack where they meet the curb and the garage door. We rebuild them on a proper base, with joints where they belong and a slope that keeps water out.
Concrete Driveway service → TOWARD MOUNT SUTROWalls on the slope
South of Judah, lots climb. Retaining walls there need drainage behind them, and taller walls, or walls with a structure above, need engineering and a permit.

Sand below, fog above
The Inner Sunset was dunes until the streetcar and the park brought houses west. Sand and fog are still the two things concrete has to handle here.
≈ Dune sand
The flat blocks sit on sand that drains well but has no strength in a vertical cut. Any excavation next to a house or a shared wall is shored before it goes deep.
We price shoring into dig-downs from the start rather than discovering it halfway.
◎ Fog-damp surfaces
Fog keeps walks and stairs damp through much of the summer. Shaded steps grow moss and algae and get slick.
Broom or textured finishes and good drainage matter more here than on the sunny east side.
△ The hill side of the neighborhood
Toward Sutro Forest and Forest Knolls, streets steepen and backyards step up the hill. Walls and stairs there carry soil and water from above.
Every wall and stair on a slope gets drainage planned with it.
